This month, the Children’s Cancer Center would like to highlight three schools who went above and beyond during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month: St. Mary’s Episcopal Day School, Epiphany Cathedral School and the School for Brain Health at Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy. These students learned about philanthropy and showed how you can rise by giving to others.
Students from St. Marys purchased kites during the month of September and awaited the opportunity to fly them on Kite Day, where they took a break from the classroom to fly gold kites in honor of other children who are battling pediatric cancer. Epiphany Cathedral School created gold shirts for the school community to purchase, culminating the month with a ‘Go Gold’ Day. A group of students from the Lakewood Ranch Academy’s HOSA Club sold gold shoe strings and graciously chose to donate the proceeds to the Children’s Cancer Center in support of local families
We have immense appreciation for all of the schools, faculty, teachers, parents and students whose compassion for the cause made Childhood Cancer Awareness Month so special.
